Frequently asked questions
When does the episode come out?
Shortly after 07:15 Eastern, every day. On weekends and US market holidays the episode is shorter, says so in its greeting, and leans on the science corner.
How do I listen?
In any podcast app, by following the show or pasting the feed address from the subscribe section; on this website, from the player on the front page; or in the Sigma Speaks app, which also carries the day's full feed of stories.
What is the difference between the podcast and the app?
The podcast is the produced ten-minute show. The app carries the same morning's stories, up to sixty of them, as a list you can reorder by following companies, plus the science corner as a second tab. The top stories in the app are the same recorded audio as the podcast; the rest are read aloud by your phone's own voice.
Why do some stories in the app sound different?
Only the top stories each day are recorded with the studio voices. The others carry their written text and are spoken by the device, which keeps the feed wide without the cost of recording sixty clips. A story marked HQ is recorded; one marked TTS is spoken on the device. You can pick the device voice and the speed in Settings.
How do I get my companies first?
Tap a company's symbol on any story to follow it. Followed companies' stories move to the front of the list. They are not filtered: everything else still plays after them. The list is ordered on your phone and nothing about what you follow leaves it.
Where do the stories come from?
From published articles by newsrooms such as CNBC, Reuters and Yahoo Finance, and from companies' own announcements. Every segment links to its source in the show notes and in the app's Source button. A segment says only what its article says.
Is this investment advice?
No. Sigma Speaks is an automated digest of published news. It does not make recommendations, and it should not be the basis of any investment decision. See the terms.
A story was wrong, or told twice
Please tell us, with the date and the title. The pipeline is checked by code for repeated events, misdated phrases and segments that drift from their article, and each reported fault becomes a new check.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. The app keeps the day's feed and the recorded audio on the phone after each load, so a tunnel or a flight does not stop the briefing. The device-spoken stories need no connection at all.
Can I get the app?
It is in beta on iPhone through TestFlight and on Android through Google Play open testing. Links appear on the front page as they become available; until then, write to us for an invite.
